This book is a beautiful companion to guide one through how to pray with icons. Included in this companion is a brief explanation of the traditions of the Eastern and Western Catholic Churches, along with differences and similarities with their art and prayer approaches.
 
This book is co-authored by Sister Jeana Visel, OSB, a Benedictine Sister that teaches at St. Meinrad's. Her research and teaching interests include Church art, especially iconography, and monastic studies. Her icons are featured in this book as well. Sample chapters include: Different Kinds of Prayer for Different Kinds of Images, Praying with Liturgical, Devotional, and Catechetical Icons, and Becoming an Icon of God. With each lesson, one has a brief explanation of the icon, along with Scripture and reflection questions to help it go deeper. 
 
This book can be used for individual prayer or small groups.
